According to Geosphere Austria’s forecast, Austria will start the week with sunshine, especially in the east and north. In the west, however, it will be rather cloudy with a tendency to showers. From Wednesday, there will be dense clouds.
Tuesday is expected to be the warmest day of the working week with 23 degrees Celsius, then it cools down again, but around 18 degrees are still possible until Friday. Still, from Wednesday again, increasing rain showers are forecast.
The weather this week is characterized by a lot of rain
On Monday, especially between Vorarlberg and western Upper Styria, there will be heavier cloud fields and, in the day, some cluster clouds with increased potential for rain showers. Further east or north, it will be dry; sunshine predominates with generally weak to moderate winds. Early temperatures will vary between around two degrees in some places in the Waldviertel and up to 14 degrees in the Rhine Valley and will be mostly 13 to 20 degrees during the day.
Sunshine predominates in eastern Austria on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, some clouds are still expected in some regions, but generally, sunshine will prevail during the day, at least in the eastern half of Austria. However, the clouds will increase again in the west from the afternoon on, and local rain showers are possible again, more frequent from the evening in Vorarlberg. In the northern foothills of the Alps and the eastern lowlands, the wind will occasionally blow briskly from an easterly to southeasterly direction, otherwise only weak to moderate. After four to twelve degrees at the beginning of the day, the values will rise to 15 to 23 degrees.
Dense clouds and rain from Wednesday due to a cold front
From Wednesday, however, dense clouds and rain of a cold front will slowly spread from the west to all parts of the country; the precipitation will be intensified in the south by an Italian low and will also reach the eastern lowlands, the east edge of the Alps and southeastern Styria by the evening at the latest, where at least in the morning the sun can still be expected more often. With the precipitation, the snow line will gradually drop to elevations below 2,000 meters above sea level. Towards evening, the clouds in Vorarlberg will begin to clear again. The wind will blow in the east and Vorarlberg partly briskly from southeast to west. Early temperatures will range between five and twelve degrees, rising to nine to 18 degrees.
Dense clouds dominate the east and southeast on Thursday.
While on Thursday in the far west, with a mix of dense clouds and some sunshine only intermittent rain showers are to be expected, further in the east and southeast dense clouds dominate, which can provide for widespread and persistent rain, however, this takes breaks again and again until the evening. The snow line will be between 1,600 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Weak to moderate winds from northwest to east. In the morning, seven to twelve degrees. Daytime highs will reach eleven to 18 degrees.
On Friday, the weather is dominated by dense clouds.
Dense clouds determine the weather in most parts of the country on Friday; the most rainfall is from Vorarlberg to Salzburg and generally south of the main ridge of the Alps, the least in the north and east, where there is a good chance of sunny clearings in the afternoon. The snow line is between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level. The wind will come from the northeast to the south but will generally be light and moderate in the Danube Valley. Starting from five to eleven degrees in the morning, temperatures are forecast to rise to ten to 18 degrees during the day.
